Low Budget Eye Candy by Steven Boone

I’ve watched this a dozen times and remains my favorite breakdown of a film sequence since I had the storyboards for North By Northwest in my communications textbook in high school.

“THESE ARE NOT FILM SETS.”

I was literally just looking at this less then an hour ago. For one of my college courses I’m planning on writing a conference paper on how low-budget sci-fi films’ use of real locations over film sets allow for them to have closer ties to reality and as such stay truer to the goal of sci-fi being a representation of the time it’s made in. I’ll cover Alphaville, Repo Man and THX-1138 and how each accomplish different things with their stories and use of real locations.

It’s a shame Boone didn’t do more of these Low Budget Eye Candy vids.
